Premier launches $5m best holidays in the world tourism campaign

hey hey

Premier Anna Bligh has announced a new $5 million tourism marketing campaign to drive domestic tourism and protect more than 119,000 state tourism jobs.

The new marketing campaign stars four popular ‘Best Job in the World’ candidates doing a rendition of the Monkees theme tune with the new lyrics ‘Hey Hey this is Queensland.’

“The campaign will run on television, print and online and targets tourists from Sydney, Melbourne and Queensland with a range of great holiday deals.

“And while it’s all about holidays and how getting away can be fun, the fundamental issue for Queenslanders is about how important the tourism sector is to our state’s economy.

Following the global success of the Best Job in the World campaign, the new campaign features James Hill from Queensland, Magali Heuberger from the Netherlands, Mirjam Novak from Germany and George Karellas from Ireland.

Treasurer Andrew Fraser said the advertisements would leverage the Best Job in the World’s popularity and success.

“Having genuine people such as James, Magali, Mirjam and George who have enjoyed some unique Queensland experiences promoting their love of our state is a great way to show consumers how to enjoy the ‘Best Holiday’ in Queensland,” he said.

“The ads will ensure Queensland has an ongoing presence in our key domestic markets throughout the year and, specifically, in the lead up to key holiday periods.

“We want to ensure Queensland is at the forefront of people’s minds when they’re choosing their next holiday and I have every confidence these ads will do just that.

“At the campaign’s core Tourism Queensland is showcasing Queensland’s signature experiences and the depth and variety of experiences and destinations.”
