MEMBERSHIP STRUCTURE

Capricorn Tourism is the official Regional Tourism Organisation for the Central Queensland region. We undertake marketing initiatives external to the region to increase visitation to the region, raise the regional profile and in-turn, the economic value of tourism in the region.

Capricorn Tourism markets all aspects of the region including farm stays, Coast & Island venues, Sapphire Gemfields, Central Highlands and the rainforests of the Capricorn Coast and Carnarvon Gorge. We are a non profit organisation that exists with the support of membership subscriptions and corporate sponsorships.

Membership is Tax deductible and is a valuable investment in your own business!

We recognise that not every business requires the same membership benefits, so below you will see how your business can easily invest in promotion of your business and the Central Queensland region.

Tourism Supporter - $355 per annum incl GST

For all businesses that are not directly involved in the tourism mainstream.


Tourism Enterprise - $475 per annum incl GST

1-4 full-time equivalent staff and/or 1-15 rooms eg. tourist retail, small attractions, accommodation.


Bronze - $930 per annum incl GST

5-15 full-time equivalent staff and/or 16-50 rooms eg. major attraction, motel/hotel or 2-3 business locations.


Silver - $1925 per annum incl GST

16-24 full-time equivalent staff and/or 51-100 rooms and large sporting clubs or 3-5 business locations.


Gold - $3790 per annum incl GST

25+ full-time equivalent staff and/or 101+ rooms or 5+ business locations.


Sponsorship Opportunities

For some businesses, tourism may not be a core focus, but nonetheless, community involvement and support is still an important element. In this circumstance, Capricorn Tourism will also invite our leading businesses from time to time to sponsor activities and major events within the region.

Sponsorship levels of Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald status are individually negotiated.

General Membership Benefits:

Visitor Information Centre Services: Distribution of brochures and dissemination of member's information from the Capricorn Tourism Visitor Centre. This includes the provision of direct bookings and recommendations.

Special Advertising Rates: Access to special Tourism Queensland advertising rates for your own (or cooperative) external marketing initiatives. This entails taking advantage of the Destination Branding Image, which is continually reinforced with our own generic campaigns.

Regional Marketing Brochure: Inclusion in the full colour regional holiday planner which is used as the key response piece in all advertising campaigns, trade and consumer shows and is forwarded in response to all enquiries received for regional information. Advertising space is available to members only.

Research Initiatives: Capricorn Tourism is involved in a number of State Government sanctioned research programmes to ensure that its marketing direction is based on sound business strategies. Also, on completion this data is available to members to assist them with their own marketing and promotion planning. The two main programmes are:

Display Material: A series of sub-regional themed displays will be produced to assist member groups in their own promotional activity as well as with the overall regional activity. This material is available on a first come, first served, basis.

Regional Resource Library: Capricorn Tourism has a range of publications sourced from a wide range of industry contacts developed over the years and these are available to members on request and they can be of great assistance for background/templates for reports etc. A regional photo image CD is also available to supplement members? own brochures and promotional material.

Sales Missions & Trade Events: Members are invited to participate in various cooperative campaigns both with Tourism Queensland and the RTO to promote their products and services. These Sales Missions and Trade Events offer an excellent opportunity to promote your product for substantially less than doing so individually.

Website Marketing: Inclusion on the Capricorn Tourism website and, where applicable a hot link direct to your site. The website is directly linked to the Tourism Australia and Tourism Queensland sites. A wide range of e-marketing opportunities are also available at additional cost.

Regional Tourism Awards: Members are invited to participate in the Central Queensland/Southern Reef Regional Tourism Awards.

Networking Evenings: Regular "network" functions are organised to allow interaction between members in a relatively informal and relaxed manner. Guest speakers will be sourced on certain occasions.

International Marketing: Assistance is available to those members who may be considering entering into the international marketing arena. Management of Capricorn Tourism have extensive experience in this area and are happy to provide advice on which markets, Inbound Tour operators, wholesalers and retail opportunities.

Assistance and Advice: This service is available through the Regional Tourism Organisation in regards to promotion, marketing and valuable contact sources to assist members.

Voting: Members are entitled to full voting rights on the RTO and can be elected to sit on the Management Committee of Capricorn Tourism.

Automatic Regional Membership Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC): A percentage of your membership is paid to the Queensland Tourism Industry Council, which is the state peak industry body for tourism. QTIC provides a broad range of membership services and maintains strong industry representation at all relevant forums. QTIC works closely with key government agencies, Ministers and officials. QTIC is also responsible for the coordination of the Queensland Tourism Awards for excellence, conferences, industry functions and forums and the Tourism and Local Governement publication and website.
